My most memorable Nutcracker experience was getting to perform the role of Lead Chinese last year. It was definitely a challenging dance, but it was also super magical to perform my first lead role in the Nutcracker.
This year, I am looking forward to being a Snowflake again. Snow is definitely one of my favorite scenes in the Nutcracker, as it is so beautiful. I am also looking forward to being a Soldier Doll because I have not been a part of the Party Scene for a couple years.
A piece of advice I have for younger dancers is to never forget why you love dance. Loving dance and enjoying what you do is as important as working hard. Dance and the Nutcracker should be a positive experience, and if you are having fun onstage, then the audience will be smiling too.
I have participated in Nutcracker performances since 2011, and it has always been such a special part of my holiday season. I love performing, and I love getting to share how I have progressed in Ballet over the years on stage. Also, The Nutcracker inspires people to love dance, and I relish being a part of it for that reason too.
